Through an innovative upcycling project, ballpoint pens were created from safety vests. The varying fabrics make each pen truly one of a kind, with its own distinct look and character.

Each pen comes with a matching upcycled sleeve made from former pilot uniforms. This sustainable protective case turns every pen into a distinctive gift while carrying the upcycling concept one step further. Two materials, one new purpose: a unique pen with a matching sleeve and an authentic story to tell.

Background:

Using a specialized upcycling process developed by manaomea, the textile fibers from the safety vests are reclaimed, combined with a bio-based resin, and transformed into a new, durable material. Each pen symbolizes a more responsible use of resources and demonstrates how retired materials can be given a meaningful second life in a completely new context.

Its replaceable refill further enhances its sustainability by extending the product's useful life and minimizing waste. In addition, every pen is delivered in a hand-sewn sleeve crafted from  pilot uniforms, making each set a truly unique example of innovative upcycling and responsible design.
